Assistance to Mauritian Nationals:

The Embassy provides the following assistance/consular services to Mauritian nationals residing in Madagascar:

(a) Applications for Mauritius Passports and Travel Documents

The Embassy receives applications for Mauritius Passports and Travel Documents from Mauritian nationals. Applications for passports are hand-delivered only to the Consular Section of the Embassy.

(b) Applications for Mauritius Citizenship

The Embassy receives applications from spouse and children of Mauritian nationals. The following documents should be submitted along with a letter application for Mauritian citizenship:

• birth certificate of applicant;

• birth Certificate of applicant's parents;

• marriage Certificate of applicant's parents;

• marriage Certificate of applicant;

• certificate of foreign nationality of applicant (if applicable);

• certificate of foreign nationality of applicant's parents (if applicable);

• evidence of applicant's residence permit abroad (if applicable);

• evidence of applicant's parents' residence permit abroad (if applicable);and

• photocopy of first five pages of applicant's passport (if applicable)

(c) Repatriation of Mauritian nationals

The Embassy extends assistance to those Mauritian nationals willing to be repatriated to Mauritius.

(d) Certification and translation of documents for Mauritian Nationals

Translation of the following documents for Mauritian nationals residing in Madagascar are made by the Embassy:

(i) Birth Certificate;
(ii) Marriage Certificate;
(iii) Driving Licence

(e) Registration of Mauritian Nationals residing in Madagascar

The Embassy also maintains a database of Mauritian nationals residing in Madagascar. In this context, Mauritian nationals residing in Madagascar are invited to register themselves at the Embassy and submit a copy of the following documents:

(i) Duly completed registration form

(ii) Photocopy of Mauritius Passports;

(iii) Photocopy of Birth and Marriage Certificates;

(iv) Photocopy of National Identity Cards;

(v) Photocopy of visa or residence permit issued by the relevant Authorities in Madagascar

Additional Information

(i) Database of Mauritian companies operating in Madagascar

Mauritian companies operating in Madagascar are invited to register themselves at the Embassy.

(ii) Application for visas

The Embassy receives applications for visas from foreign nationals residing in Madagascar. The following documents should be provided in respect of application for visa:

• Visa Application Form duly filled and signed by applicant

• Two recent passport-size photos of the applicant

• Photocopy of the data pages of applicant's passport

• A copy of the Residence Permit. (Applicable for applicants not residing in their country of origin). Same to be valid for at least three months after proposed date of departure from Mauritius.

• In case of business visa, applicant should also submit a letter from local sponsor/company.

• Passage ticket/flight details

(iii) Immigration Requirements/Conditions to be fulfilled for considering the grant of visa:

Applicant should:-

» Hold a valid Passport or other recognized travel document, where expiry date is at least 6 months beyond the date of stay.

» Hold a valid return or onward passage tickets to his/her country of origin or residence.

» Have sufficient funds to meet the cost of stay (a minimum of 100 U.S Dollars per night to stay in Mauritius

» Have a confirmed booking for accommodation in Mauritius. If sponsored by a Mauritian citizen, latter to submit:-

(1) A Letter of Sponsorship stating:

(i) name, address,

(ii) Telephone number,

(iii) profession of the sponsor and

(iv) relationship with the applicant,

(2) National Identity Card,

(3) A Utility Bill.

» Be eligible to re-enter their country of origin or residence.

» Do not engage in any gainful activities without a valid work permit
